17 - The year everything was set up for Maya to go play abroad.

In the blink of an eye, everything changed.

Torn ACL. Torn Meniscus. Torn MCL.

During her rehabilitation, Maya also pursued other talents - most successfully, modeling.

This decision would later support her through financial hardships in her overseas career.

When clubs didn’t pay her, modeling did.

2022/23 - Genoa FC

The young star’s camp with Fiorentina garnered attention from some of the biggest clubs in Italy. Looking for a senior-level challenge, Maya committed myself to Genoa for the season - where she had the opportunity to sign her first ever football contract.

Maya’s standout performances with ZNK Split, garnered the attention of Champion’s League side ZNK Osijek in the December window.

Throughout the season, her performances gained unprecedented attention from the Croatian media, with her best goal of the season also making it on their biggest TV station, NOVA TV.

Maya Lucia ended the season as a Champion of Croatia, as well as having featured on some of the country’s biggest media and newspapers.

2023/24 - Champion Of Croatia

The most challenging season of the Maltese talent’s career.

A great pre-season was followed by a tear in her ankle ligaments.

Two days after being cleared from that injury, a foul in training left Maya with a broken finger - requiring not 1, but 2 surgeries, and leaving the disappointed star out for the majority of the season.

The Maltese Warrior utilized her pain and turned it into her purpose, making significant improvements in her physical characteristics during this period.

The last two months of the season, Maya was in the starting XI in every match for the National Team - and was named to be one of the most instrumental players in Malta’s Historic promotion to UEFA Group B.

2024/25- Poland’s Top Flight

2025/26 - A Historic Season to remember for Maya and her people.

One of the biggest signings ever made by a Maltese athlete.

As soon as Apollon launched the news - Malta was all over it.

The young star did not disappoint. Her first goal of the season was the best of her entire career so far.

Time and time again, she proved her utility, playing in 4 different positions for the club,

Ending the season as a League and Cup Champion, Maya was part of the most historic match in Cypriot Women’s Football - with the cup final being played in the men’s stadium for the first time ever, as well as the attendance record being over double the previous.
